Partners, significant others, siblings, prospective parents, grandparents, nannies - anyone who counts themselves as a caregiver or is otherwise interested in babywearing is welcome at all of our events. We love to see caregivers of all varieties at our meetings. Babywearing is a great way to bond with your baby and it's definitely not just for Moms!
Each meeting starts with a quick Babywearing 101 demo. We quickly introduce each carrier style, and then go over general safety information. This should take no more than ten minutes. (And if you have heard it before at previous meetings, it is sometimes helpful to hear it again!)
After the demo trained volunteers will be available to assist caregivers with either their own carriers or to learn about a carrier, usually within small groups.
If you have carriers of your own, bring them with you! Our volunteers will work with you to get a safe, comfortable fit for you and baby. If you're still shopping, or want to try something new, try out our carriers. They are available to test and try on, totally free of charge, during the meeting. If you find something that interests you, they are available to borrow through our Lending Library Program.
What is the Lending Library?
We offer a lending library full of various carriers at our monthly meetings. Attendees may try these on and play with them while at the meetings, free of charge. We try to have multiples of each style of carriers and a wide range of designs and colors. If attendees wish to borrow a carrier from the Lending Library we charge $5 per carrier, per month. Each loan is due back at that location's next meeting (for example-if you attend October's Newton meeting and borrow two carriers then both carriers are due back at the November Newton Meeting). We accept cash, check or credit card for these transactions. We do, however, ask to keep a credit card on file in case of damage or a late return. **If the $5 per carrier fee or the credit card on file policy is preventing you from checking out a carrier with us, please email us or talk to one of our educators at our meetings. We want to make sure that everyone gets to try babywearing! |
